Numeracy
For pre-nursery, learners will be able to apply math concepts in all areas of life. Numeracy skills involve understanding numbers, counting, solving number problems, measuring, sorting, noticing patterns, adding and subtracting numbers in terms of less and more and so on.
Literacy
Literacy in pre-nursery includes the ability to understand all forms of communication, be it body language, pictures, maps, or video. The preschool curriculum is therefore required to build on all early experiences and exposure and further the learner's communication skills so that they can share their thoughts and feelings or describe their experiences more effectively.
Life and Career Skills
Our skill based curriculum for pre-nursery learners has the ability to perform an action with determined results often within a given amount of time, energy, or both. Some general skills would include time management, teamwork and leadership, self-motivation, cognitive development, social and emotional development, speech & language development.
My World
The young child is curious and enchanted about the world – its colours, its shapes, its sounds, its sizes and its forms. But most of all they are enchanted with the people – to begin with their immediate care givers, but also others. Our pre-nursery curriculum will help learners move towards logical thinking by helping them to turn their perception-bound to more concept based understanding. This gets addressed by helping children form concepts related to the world around them through direct experience and interactions with the physical, social and natural environment.

Some of the Pre-Nursery Problem Based Learning (PBL) - Projects Examples

I am Unique and Different:

Our pre-nursery learners were encouraged to explore and discover qualities about themselves, their school, their family and the people around them in their community. They were encouraged to speak about their families and surroundings. They learned the concepts through fun activities such as puppet shows, storytelling, and crafts about ‘the body’ using shapes. They then created artwork related to body parts, and hand-made photo frames using leaf and thumb printing. This project for pre-nursery learners helped them develop a sense of self, a better understanding of their relationships with those in their immediate environment and develop a connection with nature.

Blossom:

Learners explored the strong connection between nature and humans and how it made the world more beautiful and balanced. They learned about plants and their ‘little helpers’, insects, that are all around them. They observed the plant growth process in their own home gardens and at our pre-nursery school and used these observations to learn about the parts of plants. They learned how humans rely on plants to ‘clean the air’ and make it breathable. The pre-nursery learners also studied about the ‘little creatures’ in nature like centipedes, butterflies, and caterpillars. As this project was done during the monsoon season, learners observed the different seasons and types of rainfall (drizzle, thunderstorms etc.) through discussion and rhymes. They made crafts of plants, caterpillars and flowers using various materials and techniques. Learners were able to see the interdependence between humans, plants and insects through this project.

Our Best Friends - Animals

Pre-nursery learners were engaged in this project through stories about animals. They learned about the physical features and characteristics of animals (food they eat, sounds they make, movements). They explored the needs, and habitats of animals and compared them with humans. During this process they realised that the ‘right kind’ of shelters are crucial for us all to survive. The importance of empathy and helping and caring for others, even small animals and insects, was reinforced in pre-nursery learners. They created crafts of animals using various painting techniques and also origami craft. Learners developed a deep understanding of the importance of animals, and the need to be kind to all living creatures.

My Journey

In this pre-nursery project, learners explored the different modes of travel such as air, land, and water and types of transport. They were able to reason out which mode and type of transport is preferable for a particular journey. The pre-nursery learners were introduced to the concept of safety on the road, and they understood the significance of traffic rules and traffic lights. They were also given a glimpse into the important role played by various professionals such as traffic police, pilots and sailors. At the end of this pre-nursery problem-based learning project they created their own 3D models of a car, created their own traffic signal light using the ‘tearing and pasting’ technique, made boats and buses using cut outs of shapes, origami airplanes and ‘building’ airways, waterways and highways and roads using coloured sheets and pasting pictures of relevant modes of transport on each of them. Thus, our young pre-nursery learners were able to fully appreciate the importance of safety and relevance of rules.

Admission Procedure

School admission is one of the most crucial steps in a young learner’s life. It marks the beginning of their academic journey. Choosing the school for your child is incredibly important to ensure that they are provided with the right learning environment right from the start. It would help improve the child’s prospects and make sure they are given the right kind of opportunities to live up to their full potential.
This is why parents who have big ambitions for their young ones leave no stone unturned in making sure their child’s School Admission 2022-23 process is smooth and seamless. But while this process is relatively straightforward, it can help to have all the important steps broken down to make sure you don’t miss out on anything.

It’s better to keep all these documents handy before starting the pre-nursery admissions process to make sure there’s no obstacle.
Step-3: Visit the School Campus
Once you have completed the preliminary formalities, you can schedule a visit to the campus. Here you can interact with the head of admissions, head of school, and school teachers to get direct insights about any further formalities.
This is also a good opportunity for the child to visit the school and get familiarized with the campus and their educators. This can be incredibly helpful as it would allow them to feel more comfortable on their first day.
So, these were some of the most important steps that parents need to keep in mind before starting their child’s pre-nursery admissions process. By following these steps, parents can ensure that they don’t miss out on anything and get their child admitted into the school of their choice. But before you even begin the process of pre-nursery admissions, it’s essential to prepare your child for this transformative journey mentally.
pre-nursery school is often a child’s first step into the outside world and the first time they spend any considerable amount of time away from their primary caregivers, it’s important to ensure that they are prepared. This is why parents must have candid conversations with the child and allow them to speak about their views on this change.
