As a Music Learning Leader, I have always felt that some of the most meaningful learning happens in moments when children aren’t just told about a tradition, but are given the opportunity to experience its joy, meaning, and emotion together.
A Teachers’ Day to Remember
This festive spirit at Vega could be felt beautifully during our Teachers’ Day celebrations. Our learners took the lead and planned some wonderful surprises for their Learning Leaders. There was cake, chocolates, chips, ribbon cutting, handmade cards, flowers, and, above all, heartfelt wishes that made the day truly special. A simple yet meaningful assembly brought everyone together to celebrate the role teachers play in a child’s journey. What stood out wasn’t how elaborate the celebration was, but how genuinely the children wanted to make their Learning Leaders feel valued.
At this experiential learning school in Gurgaon, learning goes beyond classrooms. Through these cultural traditions on campus, we hope our learners carry forward not only knowledge of our celebrations, but also the values, warmth, and sense of belonging that live within them.
Janmashtami: Storytelling Brought to Life
Janmashtami brought an entirely different energy to the campus. Dressed in colourful ethnic attire, our learners filled the school with vibrance and joy. This time, the Learning Leaders had a surprise of their own. Through storytelling, music, and dance, they stepped into the roles of Radha and Krishna and brought the story of Janmashtami alive for the children. Watching the excitement on the learners’ faces reminded us that culture becomes far more meaningful when children can see it, hear it, and participate in it.
Onam and the Richness of India’s Diversity
The cultural traditions on campus also extended to Onam, adding another opportunity for learners to experience the richness and diversity of India. Celebrating traditions from different parts of the country helps children appreciate that while our customs may differ, the emotions behind them, gratitude, togetherness, respect, and joy, connect us all.
