At the 2025 US Open, Ayush Shetty, a young and talented Indian badminton player, achieved a significant milestone by winning the BWF World Tour Title. Shetty defeated Brian Yang of Canada in the men’s singles final of the US Open Super 300 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to win the inaugural title.
Since Lakshya Sen’s triumph at the 2023 Canada Open, Ayush, 20, became the first Indian to win a men’s singles championship.
“It means a lot—it’s my first title on the senior circuit,” Shetty said. “So I’m thrilled. There are a lot of positives to take away. I played some excellent badminton here, and I’m looking forward to the Canada Open next week.”
A Dream Come True
Ayush Shetty, the country’s newest badminton sensation, was born on May 3, 2005, in Sanoor, which is close to Karkala in Karnataka. He is a young, talented player.
Around the age of eight, he started playing badminton. His father coached him in their garden. Early skill recognition by his family allowed him to relocate to Bengaluru for better coaching and training facilities.
