Each year, soon after Diwali, air pollution levels rise sharply across North India, making outdoor activities unsafe for young learners. We at Vega Schools understand this seasonal challenge well and continue to prioritise the well-being of every learner. As an institution known for our progressive learning environment, we remain committed to ensuring that learning stays active, engaging and safe. Our approach reflects our belief in creating healthy indoor learning spaces during the months of peak pollution.
When pollution peaks during October and November, we are proactive in shifting activities into clean and protected indoor environments. Indoor spaces such as the MPH, the multi-purpose hall and open learning areas outside classrooms become central zones for physical movement. These spacious and thoughtfully designed areas allow learners to run, stretch and participate in activities such as yoga sessions, indoor relay races, obstacle courses, dance fitness, mindfulness circles and skill-based movement games without exposure to polluted outdoor air. We also incorporate calming exercises, breathing routines and soft music sessions that help learners stay relaxed and focused.
To maintain healthy indoor air quality, we use high efficiency air purifiers, and all indoor spaces remain well-ventilated while staying protected from outside pollutants during high AQI hours. Air purifying plants are placed throughout the entire building including corridors, learning studios, multipurpose spaces and common areas. A variety of plants such as Areca Palm, Snake Plant, Money Plant, Peace Lily and Spider Plant naturally improve the air and create a fresh and calming environment for learners. These green pockets also become part of our environmental discussions, encouraging learners to appreciate the role of plants in maintaining healthy spaces.

Air quality is monitored throughout the day, and activity arrangements are adjusted when needed. Our learning leaders promote healthy routines such as hydration breaks, handwashing and mask usage when appropriate. Indoors, learning leaders design engaging experiences including storytelling circles, creative art workshops, board games, reading corners, mindfulness sessions and collaborative group tasks. This ensures that learning remains rich and joyful even on days of high pollution. Learners also participate in quiet reading time, guided reflection and simple indoor fitness routines that balance movement with rest.
Beyond providing safe environments, we also nurture awareness. Learners are guided to understand why air pollution increases after Diwali, how it affects health and what simple steps families can take to keep indoor air cleaner at home. This fosters responsibility and environmental sensitivity. We also encourage small projects and discussions that help learners take pride in contributing to cleaner spaces both at school and at home.
We at Vega Schools are dedicated to ensuring that learning continues smoothly and safely despite challenging weather conditions. Through careful planning, dynamic indoor spaces and health focused practices, we create a nurturing environment where learners thrive during the months of peak air pollution. Our efforts remain rooted in our belief that every learner deserves a safe, vibrant and inspiring space to grow, no matter what the season brings.
