Every year, December 10th\u2014Human Rights Day\u2014reminds us that freedom, dignity, and equality are not abstract ideals but essential life skills. At Vega Schools, this belief is central to the way education is envisioned. As a teenager, these ideas shaped my worldview, and as an adult, they continue to guide my teaching. In classrooms, I have often drawn upon Buddhist principles to resolve conflicts, encourage every child to speak up, respect gender differences, and value resources available to us within and outside classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vega Schools are places where such values are actively practiced. By integrating Buddhist ideas into social science lessons, I aim to impart life skills that prepare children to adapt the principles of our Indian Constitution. This means fostering respect for secularism, democracy, and equality, while also cultivating empathy and global citizenship. When learners understand that compassion is the root of justice, they grow into citizens who can strengthen the republic of India and contribute to a fairer world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equally important is the freedom of press, which in today\u2019s world extends to how young people engage with media and online platforms. For students, this means respecting privacy, stopping online bullying, using media responsibly, and rejecting fake news or harmful propaganda. True freedom of expression is not about misuse\u2014it is about maintaining dignity in digital spaces and ensuring that media becomes a tool for awareness and enlightenment of the masses. Vega Schools encourage responsible use of social media, guiding learners to see media as a platform for justice, compassion, and positive change rather than division or harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abraham Lincoln\u2019s fight against slavery, along with modern leaders like Daisaku Ikeda and Josei Toda who championed peace and human dignity, remind us that compassion and courage are inseparable in the struggle for justice.
