{"id":3571,"date":"2025-10-15T11:25:49","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T05:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vega.edu.in\/vega-blog\/?p=3571"},"modified":"2025-11-07T13:43:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T08:13:17","slug":"do-the-unpredictable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vega.edu.in\/vega-blog\/principals-desk\/do-the-unpredictable\/","title":{"rendered":"DO THE UNPREDICTABLE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Parents,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gallup, one of the world\u2019s leading research organizations, asked parents what they notice first on their child\u2019s report card. <strong>77% said they focus on the lowest scores. <\/strong>It\u2019s an instinct many of us share \u2014 our eyes go straight to what\u2019s \u201cwrong\u201d instead of what\u2019s \u201cright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And perhaps without realizing it, we end up giving our children a post-match \u201ccoaching session\u201d in the car on the way home, listing everything that could have been better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tomorrow, as you walk into school to collect your child\u2019s report card, I invite you to pause for a moment \u2014 and take a deep breath before you flip it open.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What if, instead of focussing on the lowest scores, you decide to look for what your child has done right<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gallop studied 1.7 million people across 63 countries and found something striking: <strong>most of us believe that improvement comes from fixing weaknesses. <\/strong>Yet, their data also revealed that <strong>only 20% of people actually play to their strengths every day <\/strong>\u2014 and those are the ones who perform at their best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vega.edu.in\/vega-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Principal-desk-2-576x1024.webp\" alt=\"unpredictable\" class=\"wp-image-3627\" style=\"width:317px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vega.edu.in\/vega-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Principal-desk-2-576x1024.webp 576w, https:\/\/www.vega.edu.in\/vega-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Principal-desk-2-169x300.webp 169w, https:\/\/www.vega.edu.in\/vega-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Principal-desk-2-scaled.webp 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So here\u2019s the truth:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Playing to strengths creates excellence.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fixing weaknesses only creates adequacy.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And because most people still chase mistakes, those who focus on strengths stand out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So tomorrow, when you see your child\u2019s report card \u2014 do something beautifully unpredictable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t start with what went wrong. Start with what went right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Celebrate the effort, the progress, the spark. Tell your child what made you proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve probably spent years telling them what could have been done better.
