Key attributes on which the Learning Leaders are continuously trained.

Training on 21ST Century Skills: At Vega Schools, ranked in the top 5 schools of Gurgaon for 2020-21 by Education World & declared as the most innovative school in India by BW Businessworld, we prepare our children for success in school, work, life and the ever-changing real world. They need these 21st-century skills to provide a framework for successful learning in the classroom and subsequent assessment by the teachers. These skills include critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, information literacy, flexibility, social skills, leadership, teamwork, strong communication skills, problem-solving, and positive work ethics, amongst many others.

These skills are intended to help students keep up with the lightning-pace of today?s modern markets.

Training on Problem Based Learning: 21st-century skills necessitates the implementation of instruction that allows students to apply course content, take ownership of their learning, use technology meaningfully, and collaborate. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is one pedagogical approach that helps them achieve this goal. Hence Vega Schools blended PBL in their CBSE Curriculum. Problem Based Learning is the centrepiece of deeper learning . It Provides an answer to the MAIN question – why do I need to learn this? Once a child knows why he or she is learning, the engagement and motivation levels increase exponentially

PBL is a student centered, opportunity-based learning in which learners engage with a question or opportunities and do further research to find a solution

Training on Interdisciplinary learning: An important element in meeting the learning styles and needs of learners in 21st Century Education is interdisciplinary learning. Interdisciplinary learning is a teaching approach that combines the curricular objectives and methods from more than one discipline focusing on a central theme, issue, problem or work. It enables teachers and learners to make connections across learning by exploring clear and relevant links across the curriculum. It supports the use and application of what has been taught and learned in new and different ways.

Training on Depth of Knowledge(DOK): Most schools in India are still stuck in outdated models teaching outdated skills. DOK is essential in designing problem-based learning projects. They act as a standard against a learner?s performance that can be gauged. They also help us analyse how deeply a leaner thinks while solving a problem

The DOK has 4 levels and the learning at Vega Schools, top schools in Gurgaon, takes place at DOK Level 4

DOK-1: Knowledge acquisition- Teachers help learners to recall and recognize the information. Once they gather information, they are asked factual questions like who, what, where, when, and simply list/label/identify.

DOK-2: KNOWLEDGE APPLICATION -They examine and explain how the concepts and procedures can be used to answer questions.

DOK-3: KNOWLEDGE ANALYSIS: Strategic thinking. Here Learners are encouraged to think about how and why concepts, ideas, operations, and procedures can be used to attain and explain answers .

DOK-4: KNOWLEDGE AUGMENTATION: Extended thinking. Here learners discuss how else knowledge can be used by thinking deeper within the subject, across the curriculum, and even beyond the classroom in the real-world contexts. Learners are encouraged to share their perspective through in-depth researching, examination, and investigation

Training on Mastery of Skills: The reality is that focusing on skills acquisition alone isn?t enough. Mastery of skill happens when a learner learns skill or a concept or knowledge and applies it in a new and different situation without being prompted. The situation will have some level of unpredictability and changing levels.

Vega Schools, a school on Sohna Road Gurgaon, believes that merely knowing a concept is not meaningful if we can?t apply it. Our learner may learn a skill in one way, but if he can apply it differently, he is a problem solver who has achieved mastery of his skills.

We aim to let our learning discover something new with every application of skill or concept

In short, give learners a clear understanding of what success looks like. Hence for students to achieve mastery within a domain, whether narrowly or broadly conceived, they need to develop a set of key component skills, practice them for fluency, and know-how to apply them in relevant contexts.

Training on Relevance to Curriculum: During every Vega Training, we try to understand the difference between the REAL WORLD & the REAL WORLD WITH RELEVANCE.

Why do we need to learn this?

Does it have any meaning to us and our learners?

Does it give our learners some hope?

Are they curious to learn more?

Relevance to Curriculum is the Applicability and appropriateness of a curriculum to the needs, interests, aspirations and expectations of learners and society in general. To make the curriculum relevant to the learners, our learning leaders are trained to

1.   Create an activity-based curriculum to make teaching more fulfilled, engaging and fruitful

2.   Develop subject matter knowledge

3.  Give children the choices of learning activities.

4. Act as a facilitator

4.   Perform collaborative learning

Develop a supportive educational and community environment that is inclusive, healthy, friendly, and protective and rights-based.

Training on Developing Higher Order Thinking (HOT): When learning successfully synthesis, analyse, reason, comprehend, apply and evaluate a skill or concept of knowledge, he/she is said to have achieved the Higher Order Thinking Skills. High order thinking and problem-solving are necessary skills in our fast-paced world requiring dealing with large chunks of knowledge, making meaning and transferring in very short times.

Higher-order thinking takes thinking to another level , restating the facts, information .Unless our learners understand, infer and convert one fact with other facts and concepts, they won?t be able to seek new solutions to the problem.
