Why is it important to discover our dreams?
The dream might not overlap with attainments of life but it certainly provides a guiding force to achieve it. It helps in discovering the inner calling of an individual. A dream gives us the vision to choose a path for ourselves.
How does Vega empower students to succeed?
Achieving one’s dream is a lengthy process and so does the preparedness to realise it. This is an area where schools have an essential role to play.
At Vega, the curriculum is designed meticulously for honing the required skills to help realize dreams.
One needs a huge amount of confidence to chase dreams that come not only through success but also through learning from mistakes (and failure). Learners get to voice their choices, as a mandatory action, while doing any activity. This helps them to own the task, design their learning path and take complete responsibility for their actions. The Learning Leaders (teachers) at Vega are trained to facilitate and mentor their learners through some clearly defined processes.
Goal setting, reviewing the goals, and the iLead cycle (our design thinking cycle) are some of the processes followed at Vega. Learners set their own goals (academic, behavioral, or personal), review them at regular intervals, and assess the strategies. They also modify them if required.
The iLead cycle is a process designed for the planning and execution of any task/event. Learners learn to decide their objectives and design their learning path themselves while going through the phases of the iLead cycle.
The rigorous process molds the learners’ way of thinking so as to prevent them from giving up on things. It helps them build resilience which is the secret ingredient for realising a dream.
Another very important process is the inculcation of a growth mindset that is necessary for the learners to believe that they can develop their talents and abilities by seeing the roadblocks and critical feedback as a method of gathering information to help them learn.
A child who goes through this process for long periods of time becomes ready with the right mindset and skill set by the time he/she moves into high school.
At the secondary and higher secondary levels, career counseling helps students to streamline their career goals, which coincide with their dreams, by making them aware of their aptitude, personality, and interest/inclination together.
